Pair of Utes set to square off in quarters, three doubles teams advance
LAS VEGAS, Nev. – A pair of Utes will meet in the quarterfinals of singles play while three doubles teams are now in the Round of 16 after the second day of play at the ITA Mountain Regional.

In singles action, David Micevski and Santiago Sierra continued on their ways to a quarterfinal collision. Micevski topped No. 31 Felipe Fonseca of Idaho, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 and then beat JD Malan of BYU, 6-4, 6-4. Sierra defeated Victor Casadevall of Montana, 1-6, 6-3, 6-3 and then Sean Balkini of New Mexico, 6-2, 6-0

Joe Woolley reached the Round of 16 with an impressive win over No. 12 Ruben Alberts of UNLV, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3. However, No. 23 Tim Handel of Northern Arizona then knocked him off, 5-7, 7-5, 6-2,

Three doubles teams moved into the Round of 16 paced by Dan Little and Slava Shainyan. They knocked off Victor Casadevall and Peter Mimnagh-Fleming of Montana, 8-6. Parker McGuiness and Micevksi also held serve with an 8-7 win over Pedro Platzeck and Greg Wischer of Boise State.

Azat Hankuliyev and Sierra had the biggest win of the day for Utah, topping the No. 17 seeded pairing from UNLV, Adam Gage-Brown and Evaldo Neto, 8-6. The only loss occurred when Egbert Weverink and Woolley fell to Alex Cozbinov and Courtney Lock of UNLV, 8-6
In consolation singles, five of six Utes advanced to the third round. Benjamin Heck won a pair of matches on the day, topping Mateus Ceolin of Montana State, 6-4, 6-1 and Esteban Santibanez of Idaho, 6-1, 3-6, 10-8. Little was the other Ute to win a pair of consolation contests, beating Dylan Harvala of Montana State, 6-4, 6-1 and Alex Turc of Nevada, 6-1, 6-4

Meanwhile, Shainyan knocked off Rok Sitar of Montana State 6-2, 6-3, Weverink swept away Ignacio Tejerina of Montana, 7-5, 6-3 and Hankuliyev rolled past Alex Flink of Montana, 6-2, 7-6. The only loss suffered by Utah was felt by McGuiness who dropped a pair of tie breaks to Stjin Dehaan of New Mexico State, 7-6, 7-6.
