SAN FRANCISCO – The Utah women's basketball team has been picked to finish eighth in the 2016-17 Pac-12 media preseason poll, the league announced Thursday.

The Utes are coming of an 18-15 season with a trip to the third round of the WNIT to complete the 2015-16 season.

Head coach
Lynne Roberts enters her second season at the helm after leading the Utes to their first winning season since 2012-13 while doubling the number of conference wins from the previous year.

Paige Crozon, junior wing
Malia Nawahine and junior wing

 UCLA was voted first in the preseason poll for the first time since 2000, receiving 13 first-place votes and 233 points. Stanford collected four first-place votes and 219 points for second place. Washington picked up 194 points and one first-place vote while Arizona State also received one first-place vote with 175 points.

Oregon State finished fifth in the preseason poll with 164 points. California tallied 145 points for sixth while Oregon collected 117 points for seventh. Rounding out the final four spots were USC (87), Washington State (69), Colorado, (40) and Arizona (26).

California rounded out the top half with 71 points. Oregon was a close seventh with 69 points.
Following Utah in eighth place (52 points) was USC (44 points), Washington State (31 points), Colorado (22 points) and Arizona (14 points).

Utah opens the 2016-17 season Nov. 12 at Jon M. Huntsman Center when the Utes host Montana State at 2 p.m.
