SALT LAKE CITY – Utah women's basketball opens the 2016-17 season Saturday against Montana State at 2 p.m. in the Jon M. Huntsman Center.
Head coach Lynne Roberts enters her second season at the helm of the Utes program returning four starters from the 2015-16 campaign that saw an 18-win season.
Following the women's game, the Runnin' Utes open their 2016-17 campaign at 5 p.m. against Northwest Nazarene.

Utes Picked Eighth: The Utah women's basketball team has been picked eighth in the 2016-17 Pac-12 women's basketball preseason poll, announced by the league office on Thursday at the Pac-12 Women's Basketball Media Day. The Utes, who garnered 52 points, are coming off an 18-15 season and a trip to the third round of the WNIT a year ago. Head coach Lynne Roberts, who is entering her second year, led Utah to the program's first winning season since 2012-13 and doubled the number of Pac-12 wins from the previous year by going 8-10 in league play. Among the four starters returning for Utah are junior center Emily Potter, who earned All-Pac-12 recognition last season, and senior wing Paige Crozon.
