PROVO - Egebert Weverink captured the singles title in the consolation bracket of the ITA Mountain Regionals as Utah Men's Tennis wrapped up play on Saturday afternoon.
Weverink, who entered the event unseeded, won six matches in a row after dropping his opener in the main draw. The senior from the Netherlands won four matches in straight sets, including two today, and the first set in a fifth where his opponent eventually retired.Â
He now sits at 10-2 on the season after two fall events. A few weeks ago, he and teammate
Joe Woolley won the doubles title at the Utah Intercollegiate.
Utah concludes its fall schedule with a trip to Minneapolis for the Gopher Invitational Nov. 3-5
