The Utah Men's Tennis program will travel to Minneapolis for the 2017 Gopher Invitational.
The Utes will be sending
Randy Cory,
Dan Little,
David Micevski, Slava Shainyan,
Santiago Sierra,
Chase Stoner,
Egbert Weverink and
Joe Woolley to compete against teams from Boise State, Dartmouth, Denver, Minnesota, Notre Dame, Oregon, and Wisconsin.
Tournament Format
The tournament features a unique format: the Maroon draw is a 16-team compass bracket with pairs competing in a doubles match followed by two singles matches against their foes in a best-of-three format with each victory providing one "point" for the tournament. The team with the most points moves on to the next round.
The Gold draw features two flights of round robin play. After a round-robin format, the pairs will be split up based on results for Sunday. Respective finishers with compete with each other in their next pod.
Schedule
Friday's matches will begin at 9 a.m. with Saturday and Sunday set to begin at 8 a.m. tentatively. Friday will consist of two doubles rounds and one singles match for all players. Saturday will consist of two singles match and one doubles match. Sunday will consist of one round of each.
