SKOLMOSKI SELECTED TO HERMANN WATCH LIST
Utah junior forward
Hailey Skolmoski has been named to the 2017 MAC Hermann Watch List.
Last season, she was named to the NSCAA All-Pacific Region First Team and also became the first Ute to ever earn First Team All Pac-12 honors. Her 13 goals were the most for any Ute since 2007 and she also netted seven game-winners.
An excellent student that earned CoSIDA Academic All-District honors, Skolmoski was also invited to play for the U-23 Women's National Team this summer. The Riverton native started all 14 games during her freshman year as a defender until suffering a season-ending injury.
The Hermann Trophy is awarded annually by the Missouri Athletic Club to the United States' top male and female college soccer players.
SERIES HISTORY
Utah owns a 9-2-1 mark against the Ducks, including a 3-2-1 record in Eugene. Last season,
Hailey Skolmoski scored the winner during the 63rd minute as Utah earned a 1-0 win in SLC. The last trip to UO resulted in a 2-0 win as
Paola van der Veen and
Natalie Vukic both found the back of the net. Utah has won five of six contests against Oregon since joining the Pac-12.
Utah is 5-3-0 against the Beavers with a 2-2-0 mark in Corvallis. Last season at Ute Field, Skolmoski scored in the early going en route to a 1-0 victory. That was also the score in 2015, as Utah earned a win in its last trip to Corvallis. Since joining the Pac-12, the Utes have won five of six in this matchup, including four in a row. In every contest, the losing team has been shutout, which means Utah has held the Beavers off the board since 2012.
MATHIAS MAKES RETURN IN GOAL
July Mathias returned to the starting lineup for the first time this season after suffering injuries to her shoulder and wrist. She had the third-best single-season goals-against average in team history at 0.67 in 2016, ranking 21st in the nation.
Mathias finished third on Utah's single-season list with seven shutouts last year and also ranked among the top 25 nationally in save percentage at .859
UTES SNAG NATIONAL ACADEMIC AWARD
Utah Soccer was honored with a Team Academic Award by the United Soccer Coaches. This award is for the 2016-17 academic year where the Utes posted the best GPA in the Pac-12 and ranked 19th nationally among Division 1 programs (3.62).
Last season,
Katie Rogers was named an All-Region Scholar by the NSCAA (now the United Soccer Coaches) and
Hailey Skolmoski was named Academic All-District by CoSIDA. Skolmoski joined
July Mathias and
Max Flom on the Pac-12 All-Academic First Team and nine other Utes were honored with accolades by the conference.
Utah has now earned 16 United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Awards, tied with Washington for the most of any Pac-12 school. The Utes have been honored every season since 2009, the third-longest streak of any Pac-12 team, trailing Arizona State and Washington State.
