The Basics: The University of Utah women's basketball team hits the road for the first time in five games but will stay in state as they head to Provo to take on BYU on Saturday, Dec. 9 in the Deseret First Duel. The game is set for a 2 p.m. tip on BYUtv.
On The Road: Utah is 13-14 on the road under the direction of head coach
Lynne Roberts (1-1 in 2017-18, 6-6 in 2016-17, 6-7 in 2015-16). The Utes are 22-19 all-time when playing in Provo, but fell to the Cougars in 2015 (73-59) at the Marriott Center. The last time Utah picked up a win in Provo was in 2013 when they came away with a 82-74 win in double overtime.
About the Cougars: BYU enters the game against Utah 3-5 overall. The Cougars are on a four-game losing streak after winning three of its first four games. They have two players averaging in double figures, led by returning WCC Player of the Year Cassie Broadhead Devashrayee, who is averaging 19.8 points, 3.9 assists and 4.3 rebounds per game. She currently ranks sixth in the country in minutes played (39.0 mpg) and 42nd in scoring.

Utes vs. The West Coast Conference: The Utes are wrapping up a three-game stretch against teams from the West Coast Conference (Saint Mary's, Pepperdine and BYU). Utah is 99-50 all-time against the current members of the West Coast Conference, including wins over Saint Mary's and Pepperdine this season. Utah and BYU's all-time series is the longest running series in school history at 103 games (Utah leads 64-39).
Last time Out: Utah scored 64 points in the paint on the way to an 89-65 win over Pepperdine on Tuesday, Dec. 5. It was a well-balanced game with the Utes scoring 80-plus points for the fifth time this season while also forcing 19 turnovers.
Megan Huff led the Utes in points and rebounds, recording a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds.

Paint Points: Utah has outscored its opponents in the paint 340-202 this season. The Utes have outscored its opponents by 34 points in the paint in two of the last three games. Megan Huff recorded her first double-double as a Ute against Pepperdine (12/5), scoring 16 points and adding 12 rebounds. It is Huff's sixth career double-double after notching five during her two seasons at Hawai'i.
Turning Points: For the second straight game, Utah forced 15-plus turnovers, forcing 19 against Pepperdine (12/5) after 27 against Saint Mary's (12/2). Utah outscored Pepperdine 27-16 and Saint Mary's 28-11 in points off turnovers.
