SALT LAKE CITY – Utah women's basketball held on through three quarters, but fell in the final ten minutes of action against No. 11 Oregon State Sunday afternoon 63-49 in the Jon M. Huntsman Center.

"I think our team did a great job, bought in and played their tails off," head coach
Lynne Roberts said about her team's effort and energy. "I thought they played extremely hard. I thought we followed the game plan and did what we needed to do to beat Oregon State in terms of our effort.
"We got some momentum in the third quarter, but we had some misses in transition and you have to give credit to Oregon State, they're a very good defensive team. This is all a part of learning how to win and beat really great teams and I'm proud of our team and how hard they played."
Senior wing
Paige Crozon was honored before the game for Senior Day for all her contributions to the program. Crozon scored 13 points, including a perfect 5-5 from the free-throw line, and grabbed two steals.
Junior forward
Emily Potter led Utah in scoring with 17 points while pulling down six rebounds and swatting two shots. Junior wing
Tilar Clark came off the bench and provided some energy getting to the basket and the foul line scoring five points in seven minutes of action in the first half.
"I think she's done a really nice job. It's hard to sit on the bench not knowing when you'll get in the game, but she understands the system and defenses better and I have that confidence and trust in her," Roberts said.
Oregon State got on the board first with back-to-back buckets jumping out to a quick 4-0 lead over Utah. Potter scored under the basket for two points, but Oregon State answered with five points of its own for a 9-2 lead before the first media timeout.

Both teams opened the second half with high energy as the Beavers were on the board first in the third quarter, but junior wings

Free-throws kept the Utes in the ball game in the third quarter as Crozon followed Nawahine with a pair of her our free-throws as the Utes took the lead over the Beavers, 37-36, for the first time. Oregon State reclaimed the lead on the next possession but another pair of foul shots – this time from Potter – gave Utah the lead. Oregon State took advantage of the Utes struggling from field-goal range leading 44-40 at the end of the third quarter.
The foul shots continued for the Utes as Crozon made two to open the final quarter, but Oregon State went on a 6-0 run as Utah went 0-5 from the floor forcing Roberts to call a timeout.
Out of the timeout, Oregon State scored a jump shot, and the Beavers matched their largest lead of the game, 10. The scoring drought continued for Utah with five minutes of scoreless action allowing the Beavers to lead 57-42 with 4:20 to play in the game. The push didn't last for the Utes as the Beavers connected on 6-9 field goals in the fourth quarter, claiming a 63-49 victory.
"I think the way we played in terms of style and pressing really showed what we can do and we need the team to continue to buy in," Roberts stated.
