SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah women's basketball program is set to take its longest road trip of the season, 5,742 miles to be exact, as they head to Italy for 10 days.
Â
The Utes will travel through Rome, Florence, Venice and Como from Aug. 5-15, completely immersing in the experience. Utah will play three games while in Italy, along with touring each city's sites.
Â
"We are very fortunate to be able to take our team on a foreign tour," head coach
Lynne Roberts said. "We appreciate the support of our administration and those that have donated to make this trip possible."
Â
"These trips are hugely valuable. Obviously, from a basketball standpoint, we are allowed 10 practices this summer leading up to the trip that will really help jumpstart the season when official practices being in the fall. But even more so, it is an invaluable learning experience for our players. To spend time in a foreign country, learn about another culture, the history, and the overall experience is such a tremendous opportunity. We are excited."
