SAN FRANCISCO – Utah women's basketball freshman Tori Williams is the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week for her performances in the Utes' wins over No. 22 Arizona State and Arizona, announced today by the league office.
Williams was integral in Utah's sweep of the Arizona schools over the weekend, averaging 12.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists while only having one turnover. Williams has nine games in double-figures this year, including three of the last four. The Boise, Idaho, native also has 13 games where she has hit two-or-more three-pointers, giving her 37 on the season, leading all Pac-12 freshmen.
Against the ranked Sun Devils on Friday, Williams scored 10 points while shooting 50-percent from the three-point line and a perfect 4-for-4 from the charity stripe, adding five rebounds and three assists. Her four free throws came in the final 19 seconds of the game, putting Utah up by five points and sealing the win.
The Utes then headed to Tucson for a battle against the Wildcats with Williams knocking in 15 points on 50-percent shooting (5-for-10). She drained three three-pointers and went perfect from the free throw line for the second straight game.
Williams is Utah's fourth freshman of the week selection. Utah has won seven player of the week and freshman of the week honors since joining the Pac-12.
