SAN FRANCISCO - Utah women's basketball guard
Tori Williams has been named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week, it was announced today by the league office.Â
This is Williams' second freshman of the week honor this season, also earning it for her performance in Utah's road sweep over Arizona and Arizona State. Williams joins
Tanaeya BoClair (2014), Joseta Fatuesi (2014) and
Emily Potter (2013) as Utah's Pac-12 Freshman of the Week selections since joining the conference.Â
Williams turned in a performance for the record books in Utah's win over Washington on Sunday, scoring a career-high 29 points. She shot 84-percent from the field (11-for-13) and was 7-for-9 from the three, tying the Jon M. Huntsman Center record for threes made in a game.Â
She also turned in seven points in Utah's victory over Washington State, shooting 50-percent from the arc. With her nine three-pointers between the two games, she has 53 total this season, still ranking first among all Pac-12 freshmen.Â
Williams had a strong weekend away from the basket as well, tying her career-high in assists with four against Washington, also coming away with six rebounds against the Huskies.Â
