Potter Signs Training Camp Contract With Seattle Storm

SEATTLE – The Seattle Storm of the WNBA announced today the signing of Utah center Emily Potter to a training camp contract, starting on April 29.
"We are so proud of Emily," Utah head coach Lynne Roberts said. "The Seattle Storm is a fantastic organization and it is an honor to have a player be a part of that. I've always known Potter has WNBA potential and this is a great opportunity for her. I am excited to see her make the most of this opportunity."
With the camp starting on April 29, the final roster will be set on May 17. The Seattle Storm, who is coming off its second straight post-season, is under new direction with two-time WNBA Coach of the Year Dan Hughes set to coach in 2018.
"I am excited and thankful for the opportunity," Potter said. "I think that I am mobile for my size and can get up and down the floor for someone that is 6-6. I protect the paint and then offensively, the best thing I do on the court is try to score. I am excited to get the chance to showcase what I can do."
Potter will join the team at the training camp at the end of the month, but will also see some familiar faces. Jordin Canada from UCLA was drafted by the Storm and Brittany McPhee of Stanford also received an invitation to camp.
"It will be cool to get to know them," Potter said. "I've been playing against them for four years, so I kind of know their game. I think it will be fun to play with them."
Potter is coming off her collegiate career where she cemented herself in the Utah and Pac-12 record books. This past season she broke the Utah record for career blocks (270) and moved up to fifth all-time in Pac-12 history.
She leaves Utah ranking 11th in career scoring (1,635), fifth in total rebounds (1,037), fourth in offensive rebounds (313) and second in defensive rebounds (724). The Winnipeg, Manitoba, native also became the first player in Ute women's basketball history to have 1,500+ points, 900+ rebounds and 200+ blocks in a career.
The three-time All-Pac-12 selection finished her senior season in 2017-18 ranked in the top-10 in the conference in field goal percentage (5th), blocks per game (3rd) and total rebounds per game (9th). She was second on the team in scoring, hitting double digits in 22 of Utah's 32 games.
Potter was also active off the court during her time at Utah, earning Pac-12 All-Academic three straight seasons and was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District team as a senior. She already has a degree in marketing and is currently wrapping up her degree in journalism this spring.
