LOS ANGELES – The University of Utah men's tennis team was unable to card a victory today against No. 2 UCLA, as they fell to the Bruins by a final score of 4-0. With this loss, the Utes sit at 19-7, and fall to 2-5 in Pac-12 Conference play.
"Congrats to UCLA.," said head coach
Roeland Brateanu. "They showed why they are the outright Pac-12 champion and a legitimate national title contender. I thought we competed well in most spots."

The Utah men's tennis team was down early as the Bruins were able to earn the doubles point. The defeat came on the No. 1 court, as
Egbert Weverink and
Joe Woolley fell to the No. 58 ranked pair of Martin Redlicki and Evan Zhu by a final score of 6-2. Then at the No. 3 position,
Dan Little and
Azat Hankuliyev were topped by UCLA's Maxime Cressy and Bryce Pereira, 6-2, to give the Bruins a 1-0 lead into singles.

At the No. 1 spot in singles, Little retired while trailing No. 1 ranked Martin Redlicki, Â 6-4, 2-1, to put UCLA up 2-0. Keegan Smith defeated Weverink on the No. 3 court, 6.2, 6-2, to put the Bruins in winning position. Austin Rapp then finished things off for the No. 2 Bruins by defeating
Russell Benkaim at the No. 6 position, 6-0, 6-4, to complete the sweep over the Utes.

The Utah men's tennis team will be back in action tomorrow for their last match of the regular season, as they will take on No. 13 USC. The match against the Trojans is set to start at 1 pm MST, with a live stream available at:
