2019-20 Season (Senior): Pac-12 Spring Academic Honor Roll … Team captain … Compiled a 10-5 overall dual record in doubles play with Slava Shainyan, which included a 7-1 record at the No. 3 position, while also adding a 4-1 singles dual record in the shortened season due to COVID-19 … Won three straight doubles matches to open the season in the No. 3 slot which included a 6-2 win over the duo from Tulsa … Downed No. 23 Iowa’s Matt Clegg/Joe Tyler 7-6 to secure the doubles point and help push Utah in the upset … Went 9-2 in doubles matches at home with eight of the wins coming against Mountain Region opponents … Wins over teams from Northern Arizona, Southern Utah and Montana State came at the No. 2 spot … Earned three straight singles wins (Montana State, SUU, NAU) … Won the White Group at the Utah Invitational in the fall season after going undefeated (5-0).
2018-19 Season (Junior): Finished the season 3-3 in singles play, but mainly played doubles with a 10-8 dual play record, including going 7-6 at the No. 2 position with Dan Little … won three straight singles matches at the No. 6 position against Montana State, New Mexico and Marquette … beat teams from Weber State and Northern Arizona for a three-match win streak at doubles … helped Utah clinch the doubles point in a 4-3 win over Montana for a 6-1 victory … beat the No. 2 doubles team from No. 40 Old Dominion 6-2 … back-to-back doubles wins over Washington (6-3) and No. 31 Oregon (6-3) … advanced to the Round of 16 with Little at the ITA Mountain Regional in the fall with a win over Northern Colorado … won their doubles match at the LMU Invite to help the Utes win the team title.
2017-18 Season (Sophomore): Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention … saw action against Idaho State and Northern Colorado in singles play … defeated Austin Gwilliam of Idaho State (7-6, 6-0) … won against Tommy Smalley of Northern Colorado (6-3, 6-4) … also defeated Conor Tordoff of Southern Utah at the ITA Mountain Regional Championships … 13 dual doubles wins with Dan Little at the No. 3 position … 10-match winning streak, including wins over doubles team from nationally ranked New Mexico, Santa Barbara, Old Dominion, Virginia Commonwealth and Arizona … big win over Akihiro Tanaka and Charles Roberts of No. 32 Oregon.
2016-17 Season (Redshirt Freshman): Went 2-0 in dual match singles play ... won a pair of matches at the ITA Mountain Regional Championships ... reached the consolation final of the Dar Walters Fall Classic at Boise State ... won three matches at the 2016 Utah Invitational ... went 4-2 in doubles play, winning three matches with Slava Shainyan and one with Joe Woolley ... teamed with Santiago Sierra to win three doubles matches at the ITA Mountain Regional Tournament, including a victory over No. 45 Austin Bass and Daniel Echeverry of Utah State.
2015-16 Season (Freshman): Redshirted.
Prior to Utah: Reached as high as No. 130 in the nation and No. 2 in Utah ... won the Intermountain Winter Masters in the age 16 and under division.
Personal: Born and raised in Turkmenistan ... started playing tennis at age seven and moved to Salt Lake City at age nine ... son of Kakabay and Gozel who both earned PhD's in petroleum engineering ... sister Anya attended the University of Utah for one year before transferring to Westminster... enjoys playing basketball, bowling, and hiking … Graduated with a bachelor's and master’s degree in Information Systems.
