Junior receives honorable mention from conference
SAN FRANCISCO - For the second year in a row, Dan Little received a postseason honor from the Pac-12 Conference.
Little was honorably mentioned after finishing as Utah's highest ranked singles player (No. 2 in region, No. 80 nationally). He joined fellow Ute David Micevski and Slim Hamza as the only student-athletes to earn multiple postseason accolades from the Pac-12.
With eight wins against opponents from nationally-ranked foes, Little finished 7-7 in singles play this season, primarily competing at the top the lineup. His non-conference season was highlighted by a win over Jean Thirouin of No. 33 Harvard. In Pac-12 play, he topped No. 21 Michael Geerts of No. 38 Arizona State, 7-5, 7-5, to set the tone for a Ute victory.
Little was 13-9 in doubles play with wins against opponents from five ranked foes. He teamed with Azat Hankuliyev to defeat Tanaka/Roberts of No. 32 Oregon and Bacardi/Maier of No. 58 Arizona in Pac-12 play.Â
The England native entered this year as the ITA Mountain Region Player to Watch and helped Utah advance to the NCAA Championships for the first time since 1997.
