SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The University of Utah women's basketball program jumped into the AP Top 25 today, sitting at No. 21 after receiving votes in the last eight polls.Â
It is the first time in the
Lynne Roberts era that the Utes have been ranked in the AP Poll after receiving votes in each of her previous three seasons at the helm. The Utes are currently 16-1 overall this season and 5-1 in Pac-12 play with their sole loss coming against top-25 ranked Arizona State on a buzzer beater.Â
The last time Utah was ranked in the AP Poll was during the 2007-08 season when the Utes went 27-5 and 16-0 in the Mountain West, advancing to the NCAA Tournament. The highest the Utes have been ranked was No. 11 in the AP Poll in 1998. Â
The Utes are one of just nine teams in the country and three in the Pac-12 with one loss, tying for fifth nationally in win-lost percentage (.944). Utah ranks in the top-25 nationally in assist turnover ratio (16
th), assists per game (19
th), field goal percentage (9
th), rebound margin (25
th), scoring margin (16
th) and three-point percentage (15
th).Â
Utah is set to host California on Friday, Jan. 25 at 7 p.m. and No. 6 Stanford on Sunday, Jan. 27 at 12 p.m. MT. Utah's Friday night game will be a BLACK OUT with free attendance to anyone who wears black.Â
