Dru Gylten has been named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week for the second time this season, it was announced today. It marks the sixth time the Utes have earned freshman of the week status and the seventh overall player of the week honor this season.
Gylten was spectacular in Utah's 80-64 rout of Arizona on Sunday, notching her first career double-double. The Rapid City, S.D. native scored 10 points, also dishing out 10 assists against the Wildcats, adding for rebounds and two steals.
Gylten is just one of two freshmen in the league that have scored a double-double with assists and had more than one 10-plus assist game. She currently leads all freshmen in the Pac-12 and in the nation in assists (88) and assists per game (6.3).
She also scored seven points against No. 22 Arizona State on Friday night, posting two assists and a block to her stat line as well.
Gylten and the Utes return to action this Friday when they travel to Washington State. The game will tip at 8 p.m. MT and air on the Pac-12 Networks.
