SALT LAKE CITY – The University of Utah women's basketball team will have a wealth of new faces this season, including a trio of players who will be ready to lead the Utes as the senior class a year from now.
Three transfers in
Julie Brosseau,
Ola Makurat and
Zuzanna Puc will begin their second and first years with the team, respectively, with Puc sitting out the season due to NCAA transfer rules. Both Brosseau and Makurat redshirted in 2018-19 for the same reason and are ready to done the red and white in 2019-20.
Brosseau and Makurat both led their previous teams to NCAA Tournament berths while Puc was a mainstay for Texas-El Paso, starting in over 50 games. Between the three of them, they have 221 games of NCAA Division I women's basketball experience before even setting foot on the court for the Utes.
"Both Julie and Ola have played in the NCAA Tournament with their past teams," head coach
Lynne Roberts said. "They redshirted last year and worked on their individual games and they look good. I don't think a lot of people know who they are because I don't think they know we have them. Those two are going to help a lot this year."
