The Utes are officially 23 days away from the start of the 2019-20 season. Returning to the court this year is senior
Daneesha Provo, who missed most of last season with an injury.
She started in 13 games last season before the injury and was averaging 13.5 points, 2.0 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 2.1 steals and 26.2 minutes per game. At the time of her injury, she ranked 10th in the Pac-12 in field goal percentage (.511), sixth in steals per game (2.1) and 14th in three-pointers made per game (1.8).
Q: What is your earliest memory of basketball and what was special about that moment?
A: "My earliest memory of basketball was watching my older cousin play."
Q: What was it like growing up in your hometown? Any specific memories that stand out?
A: "Growing up in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, was very special because all me and my little cousins were always on the basketball court by my grandmother's house. We would always eat lunch then race over to the basketball court and play all day until our parents picked us up."
Q: How has your family influenced you on and off the court?
A: "My family has influenced me in so many different ways on and off the court. Off the court they always told me to get good grades and respect others, and that's the way I live my life every day. On the court they influenced me to work hard if I want to reach my goals of becoming a professional basketball player."
Q: Who would you say you take after most in your family and why?
A: "I would say I take after my father. He always kept me grounded with everything I do at such a young age. He has a big heart and works hard in everything he does."

Q: What about the sport of basketball made you fall in love with it?
A: "Everything about basketball. It's the way the game is played made me fall in love. But more important the team aspect of it is just so different how every girl on the team is like a sister."
Q: Was there ever a time that you thought college basketball wouldn't be in your future?
A: "Never. I always had a goal to play college basketball when I was just a little girl. I promised myself to use basketball as a way to pay for college and travel the world and I did. The atmosphere of college basketball is just so special and so hard to describe the feeling."

Q: What is your dream job and why?
A: "My dream job is to be a child-life specialist. Being able to work with sick children in hospitals to help them get through tough times and give them hope."

Q: What is something people might not know about you?
A: "A lot of people don't know that I love to do music. Music makes me happy - it helps me escape from the real world just like basketball."
Q: What about the University of Utah made you want to continue your career here?
A: "I love the environment here. Its like my home away from home. The coaching staff is amazing and I just love the fans here. The fans are super supportive and make me feel like I'm home playing here at the University of Utah."
Q: What has been your favorite part about playing basketball at Utah so far?
A: "My favorite part of playing basketball here at the University of Utah would probably have to be the fans and how supportive they are outside of basketball."
