SALT LAKE CITY – For two of Utah women's basketball's student-athletes, tomorrow's exhibition game against the Westminster Griffins will be the beginning of their final year with the Utes as seniors
Daneesha Provo and
Kiana Moore enter their senior campaigns.
The Utes have a strong duo in their two seniors. Provo was granted an extension of her five-year clock in August and will be eligible to play this season after ending her year early in 2018-19 with a torn ACL.
"Obviously, I am very happy for our program and team," head coach
Lynne Roberts said. "Undoubtedly, Daneesha makes us better. But even more so, I am really thrilled for Daneesha personally. This has been such a challenging nine months for her, so it is exciting to see her get the opportunity to further her education and play her final season here with the Utes. We are extremely grateful."
The Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, native started in the first 13 games of last season before suffering a season ending injury against Arizona State in January. At the time of her injury, she ranked in the top-15 in the Pac-12 in field goal percentage (.511), steals per game (2.1) and three-point field goals made per game (1.8).
Moore embodied the Utes' motto of "next woman up" last season after Provo went down. She started the last 17 games, going from averaging 5.5 points per game in non-conference play to 11.6 in Pac-12 games.
