Every young athlete has a unique journey. Whether it is hardships or hardware being collected, each student-athlete paves their own path to college athletics.
Raised in California, senior guard Kiana Moore's journey to the University of Utah actually started close to 3,000 miles away from Salt Lake City, in Honolulu, Hawaii.
"I was born in Hawaii, but then my mom moved back to California when I was still a baby," Moore said. "I call California and Hawaii home though because I have so much family there. I go to Hawaii every summer."
Growing up in California, it was clear to Moore's parents that she would be energetic and was quickly put into youth leagues. At a young age, the spark was set in Moore that maybe basketball could be her future, even with some growing pains in the sport.
"Basketball came into my life when I was pretty young, maybe when I was three years old," she said. My mom and dad put me into this program on base. I was playing with everybody and honestly I wasn't really that good. I didn't start getting good until maybe seventh or eighth grade year, and that was when I started taking it seriously and could see that I might go far with it."
