Edwards Named Pac-12 Freshman of the Week

SAN FRANCISCO – Dre'Una Edwards has been named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week after her outstanding performances against USC and UCLA, earning the award for the fifth time this season.
Edwards's Pac-12 honor brings Utah's freshman of the week nods to eight this season which ties the Pac-12 record for freshman of the week honors for one school.
Edwards scored in double-digits in back-to-back games against USC and UCLA, starting with her 10-point performance against the Trojans. She followed it up with a career-high 21 points against UCLA, shooting 6-of-12 from the field and a perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line. Â
The Las Vegas, Nev. native currently ranks second in the Pac-12 in field goal percentage, shooting 54-percent from the floor. She is also in the top-10 in the conference in steals and blocks per game, ranking seventh and fourth respectively.
She has six double-doubles this season, the most by any freshman in the league and has scored in double digits in 17 games.
Edwards and the Utes return to action on Friday, Feb. 15 when they take on Arizona on the road. The game is set for a 6 p.m. MT tip. Â
