Dre'Una Edwards has been named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week for the sixth time this season, bringing Utah's freshman of the week honors to nine this season.Â
With Edwards's award this week, the Utes have set a new Pac-12 record for total freshman of the week nods in one season by a team, passing Cal who had eight in 2015-16. Edwards,
Dru Gylten and
Andrea Torres have combined for Utah's Pac-12 Freshman of the Week honors this season with
Megan Huff also earning Pac-12 Player of the Week twice.Â
Edwards tied her career-high in points with her 21 in Utah's game against Arizona, her second straight game in the 20-point range. She has three games with 20-or-more points this season.
She also had 10 rebounds against the Wildcats, bringing her double-double total to seven this season. Her seven double-doubles ranks seventh overall in the Pac-12 and first among freshmen.Â
Edwards followed it by shooting 57-percent from the floor for eight points against Arizona State, the 15
thtime this season she has shot 50-percent or higher. She also had six boards against the Sun Devils, the 20
thtime this season she has had five-or-more rebounds in a game.Â
The Las Vegas, Nev. native currently ranks third overall in the Pac-12 in field goal percentage (54%) and 13
thin rebounding (7.0 per game).Â
