SALT LAKE CITY – The University of Utah men's tennis team will head to Waco, Texas to take on the Baylor Bears after earning a spot in the NCAA DI Men's Tennis Team Championship bracket for the second straight year. The match will take place on Friday, May 3 at 5 p.m. MT.Â

It is Utah's 14thtrip as a team to the NCAA Championships, taking on Oklahoma in the first-round last season. The Utes are one of 64 teams that earned a spot in this year's championship with Dan Little earning a spot in the NCAA Singles Championships which will run May 20-25 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.
With a win against Baylor, the Utes would move on to play the winner of the Michigan vs. Dartmouth match which would take place on Saturday, May 4. The last time the Utes and the Bears faced off was in 2009 when Baylor got the upper hand with a 7-0 win at the ITA National Team Indoor Championships.
In the team competition, the matches will be regulation dual matches. Three doubles matches consisting of six-game sets will be played for one team point, followed by six singles matches, each valued at one team point where they play the best of three sets. The first school to four team points will advance in the bracket.Â
The Utes ranked as high as No. 41 in the ITA rankings as they headed into Pac-12 play with a record of 12-2. Utah is 17-11 overall this season with four wins over ranked opponents in No. 40 Old Dominion, No. 31 Oregon on the road, No. 12 Stanford on Senior Day and then No. 47 Oregon again in the first round of the Pac-12 Tournament.Â
Utah's win over Oregon in the tournament was the fifth time since joining the Pac-12 that the Utes have advanced to the quarterfinals, also moving in in 2017, 2014, 2013 and 2012.Â
The Utes have been led this year by seniors Dan Little, David Micevski and Joe Woolley. Utah currently ranks No. 42 in the ITA polls with Little ranking No. 45 and Micevski coming in at No. 85 in singles.Â
Little has been a rock for the Utes at the No. 1 singles position, recording 15 dual singles wins this season to push himself over the 90 career wins mark to cement himself as one of the best singles players at Utah. He has gone 6-1 against ranked opponents this season, concluding defeating No. 13 Adria Soriano of Miami and No. 16 Brandon Holt of USC.Â
Micevski is 13-4 overall at the No. 2 spot this season in dual play, including going undefeated against ranked opponents during the regular season. He took down No. 98 Keegan Smtih of UCLA, No. 51 Logan Smith of USC and No. 110 William Genesen of Stanford.Â
Woolley has been Utah's No. 6 singles player this season, coming up with six singles wins while teaming up with Russell Benkaim in doubles. They duo has been dominant this season with 10 wins that included the doubles-point securing victory over Stanford.Â
