Why Utah: Maurane Corbin
Redshirt sophomore
Maurane Corbin will return to the court this season after missing the 2018-19 season with an injury. The 6-5 forward came to Utah from Saint-Bruno, Quebec, and played in 31 games as a true freshman in 2017-18.
Q: When you first started getting recruited, what things attracted you to Utah?
A: "During my recruitment, the Canadian connection that the program had was probably what attracted me in the first place. Afterwards, my conversations with the coaches on the phone, the level of play in the Pac-12 as well as the beauty of the campus are the main reasons why I chose to come on a visit here."
Q: What is your favorite part about playing at Utah so far?
A: "My favorite part about playing at Utah is definitely the people surrounding me every day. The team quickly became my second family and I truly enjoy every moment spent with this group. The coaches, support system, and all the adults associated with athletics care not only about us as athletes, but also as people, which makes a big difference in our overall student-athlete experience."
Q: What is it like getting to play in one of the best conference in the country?
A: "Playing at Utah and in the Pac-12 is definitely challenging, but also very exciting. We constantly have to be ready to compete against some of the best players in the country. Every day, it is a new opportunity to become better and to embrace what is in front of us. I am extremely grateful to be able to do what I love the most in the best conference."
Q: What is your favorite thing to do in Salt Lake City when you aren't playing basketball?
A: "My favorite thing to do when I have free time is to go on hikes, or do any other kind of outdoor activities."
Q: What are your three favorite things to do in the state of Utah?
A: "I love visiting all the national parks in Utah. The beauty of this state is absolutely amazing and I am always very impressed. I also love trying new restaurants and tasting different kinds of foods. Finally, I also enjoy walking around downtown Salt Lake City with my friends, and go to the farmers markets or hang out by the pool!"
