SALT LAKE CITY – University of Utah women's basketball head coach
Lynne Roberts announced the 2019-20 schedule today that includes 15 games in the Jon M. Huntsman Center.Â
"We are returning a young, but talented team that has bought in to pushing themselves to take the program to new heights," Roberts said. "We are also adding a tremendously talented recruiting class that I anticipate to contribute right away. Our entire program is fired up for this 2019-20 season."
The Utes get started on Thursday, Oct. 31 with an exhibition match against Westminster College at 11 a.m. MT. Utah topped the Griffins last season 118-80 with the Utes being 4-0 in exhibition games in the Roberts era.Â
Utah will head to Cincinnati, Ohio for its regular season opener when they take on Cincinnati and Xavier on Nov. 5 and Nov. 7. It will be Utah's first meeting against both games and Utah's first trip to the Buckeye State since 1985 when the Utes faced off against Ohio State.Â
The Utes will return home for a pair of games against South Dakota on Nov. 16 and Eastern Washington on Nov. 18. Utah is 9-1 all-time against Eastern Washington and 1-0 against South Dakota, beating the Coyotes 66-59 in Roberts's first game at the helm in 2015.Â
Utah will take on two opponents in Honolulu, Hawaii on Nov. 22 and Nov. 24 as part of the Bank of Hawaii Tournament before returning home to face it's instate rival. The Utes will head down to Provo to take on BYU on Friday, Nov. 29 while currently holding a 65-40 lead in the series.Â
The Utes will have a four-game home stand to wrap up non-conference play, starting with Oral Roberts on Thursday, Dec. 5. This will be Utah's second game against the Golden Eagles in school history, beating them in 2017 71-50 at home.Â
Utah will go on to host Nevada on Dec. 14, Providence on Dec. 16 and end the non-conference season with Weber State on Dec. 20. The Utes are 48-6 all-time against Weber State, including a 25-1 record in Salt Lake City.Â
"When you play in a conference that is as strong from top to bottom as the Pac-12, you must use your non-conference schedule to prepare your team for what is to come," Roberts said. "With a tough road trip early against Cincinnati and Xavier, hosting an NCAA Tournament contender in South Dakota, traveling to Hawaii for a pair of road games, and playing a very competitive BYU team on the road, we feel this will be a great test for our group before we head into Pac-12 play."Â
Utah will face off against Colorado the weekend of Dec. 27 at home for week one of Pac-12 play before traveling to the Pacific Northwest to take on Oregon State and Oregon the weekend of Jan. 3. The Utes then return home for a pair of games against UCLA and USC for week three.Â
The Utes will hit the road for three straight games against Colorado, California and Stanford the weekends of Jan. 17 and Jan. 24 before coming back to the Huntsman Center. Utah hosts the second part of its series against Oregon and Oregon State during week six before heading back to the Pacific Northwest for two games against Washington and Washington State.Â
Utah enters week eight with a four-game home stand against Stanford and California the weekend of Feb. 14 and then Arizona and Arizona State the weekend of Feb. 21. The Utes final week of regular season play will take place during the weekend of Feb. 28 when they head to Los Angeles for road games against USC and UCLA.Â
