ATLANTA – Utah women's basketball head coach
Lynne Roberts was named to the 2020 WBCA Victory Club honorees list today after recording her 300
th career win as a head coach this season.
The WBCA Victory Club honor is awarded annually on each WBCA-member head coach who achieves a milestone of 200, 300, 400, 500 or more career victories during the current season on the level of competition at which they currently coach.
In her 18 seasons as a head coach, Roberts has an overall record of 307-246 and an 86-71 record at Utah. She earned her 300
th career win against the Weber State Wildcats on Dec. 20, 2019 with the Utes winning 75-46.
In five seasons at Utah, Roberts has led the Utes to postseason appearances three times with three 18+ win seasons, including Utah's first 20-win season since 2012-13 in 2018-19. After receiving votes in the AP and coaches polls in her first three seasons, the Utes jumped into the Top 25 for the first time in a decade in 2018-19, ranking as high as No. 14.
During her time at Utah, the Utes have had 15 All-Pac-12 selections and 18 Pac-12 All-Academic honorees, adding in Utah's first player of the year award in 2019. She has also seen four school records fall, including back-to-back single-season three-point records, along with Utah's first WNBA draft pick since 2014.
Roberts came to Utah after nine seasons as the head coach at the University of the Pacific, where she was a two-time conference coach of the year. She led the Tigers to postseason appearances in each of her last four seasons after taking over a team that qualified for the postseason just once in school history before her arrival.Â
Prior to Pacific, Roberts spent four seasons as the head at Chico State where she compiled an 86-31 overall record. During her final season, the Wildcats were 28-4 in 2005-06 and advanced to the NCAA Division II Final Four. She was named the WBCA West Region Coach of the Year in 2004-05 and was the California Collegiate Athletic Association Coach of the Year in 2004-05 and 2005-06.
