SALT LAKE CITY — The Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) announced today the 20 watch-list candidates for the 2024 Ann Meyers Drysdale Award. Utah's
Gianna Kneepkens was named to the preseason watchlist.Â
Kneepkens, a junior from Duluth, Minn. was a WBCA All-American Honorable Mention during 2023 as was as a Pac-12 All-Conference selection. Ended the 2022-23 season 16th in the nation in three point percentage shooting 42.3 percent on the year.Â
Last year Kneepkens averaged 15.3 points per game, 5.2 rebounds per game and 2.06 assists per game. She also shot 49.8 percent from the field and 83.1 percent from the line. She was also named to this year's Pac-12 Preseason All-Conference team.Â
Kneepkens was named to the Cheryl Miller Preseason Watchlist at the start of the 2022-23 season, making this Kneepkens second consecutive year being a national player to watch.
Named after the first player, male or female, selected to an All-America Team in four straight college seasons, the annual award in its seventh year recognizes the top shooting guard in women's NCAA Division I college basketball. A national committee of top college basketball personnel determined the watch list of 20 candidates.
Fans are encouraged to participate in Fan Voting, presented by Dell Technologies, in each of the three rounds starting Friday, October 20. In late January, the watch list of 20 players for the 2024 Ann Meyers Drysdale Award will be narrowed to 10, and then in late February to just five. In March, the five finalists will be presented to Meyers Drysdale and the Hall of Fame's selection committee, where a winner will be selected.
