SALT LAKE CITY — No. 5 Utah women's basketball's
Alissa Pili was ranked on the ESPN 2023-24 women's basketball top 25 players coming in at No. 9.
She was a Pac-12 Preseason All-Conference selection for this upcoming season. Pili earned an honorable mention on the AP Preseason All-American list and was also named to the Katrina McClain Preseason Watchlist and the Wade Trophy Preseason Watchlist.
She's averaging 22 points so far this season and 6.5 rebounds per game. She is shooting .833 from the field, .750 from the three and .786 from the free throw line.
She is one of four from the Pac-12 on ESPN's Top 25 Player Rankings and second highest Pac-12 player on the list. Stanford's Cameron Brink came in at No. 4 on the list while, Washington State's Charlisse Leger-Walker was No. 20 and UCLA's Charisma Osborne was No. 23.
ESPN's Charlie Creme said this about Pili, "After a big start to her career at USC, where she averaged 16.3 points per game in 2019-20, Pili struggled with injuries and her scoring dropped in half. She transferred to Utah and her career was reborn, earning Pac-12 Player of the Year honors. With soft hands and excellent foot work, Pili is nearly unstoppable in the post, but she also takes her game to the perimeter, where she shot 42.1% from 3-point range. Pili became the missing piece as Utah won its first Pac-12 championship and reached the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2006."
Pili was a WBCA All-American last season and was named an AP and USBWA Second Team All-American. She was the 2023 Pac-12 Player of the Year and earned Pac-12 All-Conference honors.
She ended the 2022-23 season 16th in the nation in scoring averaging 20.7 points per game. She was also 14th in the nation in field goal percentage shooting 59 percent on the year. Pili averaged 5.6 rebounds per game and 2.2 assists per game. She also shot 42 percent from the three and 79 percent from the free throw line.
Pili was a Naismith Trophy Player of the Year Finalist in 2023.
ESPN's Top 25 Player Rankings will update throughout the course of the season.
