The University of Utah women's basketball program will be well represented this year at the USA Basketball 3XÂ Nationals with Alissa Pili, Jenna Johnson, Dasia Young and Maty Wilke all competing May 5-7 at Reid Arena in Colorado Springs, Colo.
The quartet will represent the Utes at Reid Arena on the campus of Colorado College with the event featuring up to 12 men's and 16 women's teams including some of the best 3x3 players in the country, all vying for national titles.Â
Tip off will be May 5 with preliminary rounds and medal rounds running throughout the weekend. Utah will be joined by other NCAA Division I programs such as Duke, Gonzaga, Indiana, Maryland, Oklahoma, UCLA and Villanova.Â
Played on a half court with a 10-minute clock and a 12-second shot clock, the first team to 21 points, or the team in the lead at the end of regulation, is the winner. Participating teams earned their spots in the 2023 USA Basketball 3X Nationals either through USA Basketball 3X regional qualifying tournaments last fall or via an at-large invitation from USA Basketball.
Pili was named the 2022-23 Pac-12 Player of the Year and earned WBCA All-American honors. She led Utah in scoring last season averaging 20.7 points per game. She averaged .590 from the field, .496 from the three and .797 from the free throw line.Â
Johnson was named a Pac-12 honorable mention while averaging 11.9 points per game. She averaged 4.9 rebounds a game and shot .496 from the field, .263 from the three and .730 from the free throw line. She played and started in all 32 games for the Utes.Â
Young averaged six points per game for Utah while shooting .373 from the field, .326 from the three and .738 from the free throw line. She saw time in all 32 games with the Utes.Â
Maty Wilke is a transfer from Wisconsin and will be joining the Utes for the 2023-24 season. While at Wisconsin she averaged 33.9 minutes per game and averaged 11.8 points per game. She led Wisconsin in three point shooting, making 61 from behind the arc.Â
