Jeff Judkins served as the Utah women's basketball program's assistant coach of player development and community ambassador from Sept. 2023-Oct. 2024. He was hired in that role to provide experience to the program and work closely on the court with players for individual skill development and team defense. He also was a liaison with the community, fans and LDS Institute on campus.
Prior to this position, Judkins spent 21 years as the head coach at Brigham Young University. He is the all-time winningest head coach in BYU basketball history, men or women. He posted a 454-204 overall record and helped the Cougars to 10 NCAA Tournament appearances with two appearances in the Sweet 16. Judkins earned six conference coach of the year awards and coaches his teams to 20 or more wins in a season 13 times.
Before his tenure at BYU, Judkins was an assistant coach for the Runnin' Utes from 1989-99. He played for Utah from 1974-78, leading the Utes to one conference championship and two NCAA Tournament appearances. He was a second-team Academic All-American, a three-time District VII academic selection and a three-time First Team All-WAC honoree. He sits at No. 8 in the Utah record books for all-time scoring with 1,740 points.
Judkins was a member of the 1977 United States World Games team that captured the gold medal.
Judkins was drafted in the second round of the NBA Draft by the Boston Celtics in 1978, the same year the Celtics selected Larry Bird with the sixth pick overall. He went on to play for the Celtics, Portland Trailblazers, Detroit Pistons and Utah Jazz.
He was inducted into the Utah Athletics Hall of Fame in 1995.
