Head Coach Gavin Petersen
Overall thoughts . . .
"We were really excited to be able to come in and play at the Delta Center. I told the team to make sure to take a moment and just soak it in because these experiences are the ones they'll remember. I am super proud of our focus. I truly believe we've continued to build on what we started in the Cayman Islands. I am excited to see where this goes moving forward. "
On setting the tone early . . .
"I told them we have to set the tone early. Especially at home and in Salt Lake City. We play a tempo and style of play that we practice so we can sustain and drives us to big runs during games. We wanted to establish early that the press wasn't going to slow us down and it really opened up the game for us today."
On playing in the Delta Center . . .
"I think the growth of women's basketball is still on the rise. Our fans showed up tonight. Our game was originally scheduled for tomorrow [Dec. 5] and we moved it and they still showed up and supported us. I think it was a treat for them too. I think the excitement and joy that we play with allows the fans to feed off of it. I love that our team was given the stage to set an example for younger girls and show them that these kinds of things are possible.
On Kennady McQueen's performance . . .
"Kennady is one of those kids for the last four years I've never had to question her work ethic. I've never had to question how hard she's going to play. It's really cool to see her be able to get this experience in her home state and see her shine the way she did tonight."
Kennady McQueen, senior, guard
On playing in the Delta Center . . .
"For me growing up in Utah and coming to Jazz games, this was a surreal moment for me. To be able to play on the same court as some of the best basketball players in the world is an incredible opportunity. What a moment for women's sports."
Reese Ross, sophomore, forward
On playing in the Delta Center . . .
"I come from South Dakota so there's not many opportunities to play in those big arenas. It's cool to be a part of women's sports in this generation and being able to have experiences like this."
On her aggressiveness and style of play this year . . .
"I think the biggest thing has been trust. I know that my teammates and coaches trust me and it makes it that much easier to go out there and play confidently."
