Head Coach Lynne Roberts
Opening statement . . .
"I want to congratulate Washington, I thought they were phenomenal today, they seemed to be quicker in offense and defense. They came in prepared and ready to win. We didn't play well, it has been a pattern all season of playing really well and then playing poorly. We just haven't figured out that consistency yet. We missed the first couple of shots early on and then we got tight, we had uncharacteristic shooting from the field today. It's a bummer to end that way on senior night but we still have a season in front of us. None of us saw that coming, but we have to credit Washington. They were inspired and we played tight as if we were scared to lose. You have to be fearless, especially in March but we will learn from it. A game does not define a season and so far we have 21 wins, ranked in the Top 20, we'll make the NCAA tournament, and we're not done yet."
On the team's energy . . .
"It's difficult, I told them I can't do it for you. They have to play harder and more inspired. We were out of rhythm the whole day and sometimes that happens. This occurred at UCLA as well but we can't do that anymore. We are guaranteed two more games, but I still believe in this group. In the heat of the game we have to make plays, whether its a stop, rebound or hitting a shot- we were out of rhythm today."
On preparing for the Pac-12 Tournament . . .
"Sometimes a loss can motivate a team in a different way, for example last year we beat Stanford for the title to share it. It was a high moment and we had our hands down walking into the tournament. I would anticipate this group to be motivated and I believe I won't need to do any tricks to get them motivated. They are competitive, and it's my expectation they'll bounce back. Tomorrow we rest and recover and on Monday we go. "

On her performance . . .
"I made plays but today wasn't about me, I love our seniors and I made plays because of them. I made both bad and good plays but towards the end of the game I became aggressive because I did not want to lose for them. The seniors have done so much for the program and for me personally it was intimidating coming into this team and all three seniors have impacted me differently. I do not think this one game defines anything. Alissa and Daisa didn't perform the way they wanted today but I wanted to show them I have their back no matter what."
On what the team's mindset is moving into the postseason . . .
When we compete together we are unbeatable. We play hard all the time. There is a different level when we play hard and are competing to win. Going down the stretch it doesn't matter, everyone is playing, you win and you advance, you lose you go home. It doesn't matter what anyone's record is at this point. If we want to win and keep going we just have to compete and play together."
NOTABLES
Kennady McQueen hit her 200th career three becoming the sixth Ute in history to achieve the feat.
