LOS ANGELES - The University of Utah men's tennis team secured a 4-1 victory over Cal Poly in a neutral-site match on Saturday afternoon, improving their season record to 6-1.
The Utes were led by
Emmett Potter who secured an intense 7-6 (4) doubles victory with partner
Max Relic at the No. 3 spot before delivering a dominant 6-3, 6-3 win in singles play at the No. 2 spot.Â
In doubles, Cal Poly recored a win at the No. 3. Utah then responded with a victory on court one with
Reid Jarvis and
Dante Teramo picking up a 7-6 (1) win over Raz Haviv and Sean Iamyshev. Potter and  Relic clinched the doubles point for Utah on court No. 2, edging out John Cross and Bastiaan Weststrate in a tight 7-6 (4) tiebreaker.
Bugarikj claimed Utah's first singles win on court No. 1, defeating Haviv 6-2, 6-3. Potter followed with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Weststrate at No. 2, putting Utah in position to secure the match. Cal Poly was able to get a win at the No. 6 spot but
Reid Jarvis sealed the win on Court No. 5, battling past Ferguson 7-5, 7-5, while the remaining matches went unfinished.
NEXT UP
The Utes will face LMU on Sunday (Feb. 16), before heading to Murfreesboro Tenn. for the Battle in Boro Feb. 21-23.
