SETTING UP
The Utah men's tennis program heads east to Tennessee for the Battle in Boro, taking place Friday Feb. 21-Feb. 23. The Utes will play three matches throughout the weekend, facing Middle Tennessee (2/21), South Alabama (2/22), and New Mexico (2/23).

SCOUTING THE BLUE RAIDERS
Middle Tennessee will head into the tournament with a 6-6 overall record on the season. The Blue Raiders are coming off a three-match win streak after topping Arkansas, Eastern Kentucky, and Oklahoma State. This wil be the first meeting between the Utes and the Blue Raiders.
SCOUTING THE JAGUARS
The Jags are set to enter the weekend with a 2-5 overall record and are currently sitting in a four-match losing streak. Utah has met with South Alabama just once before in February of 2016, resulting in a 6-1 victory over the Jaguars in Salt Lake City.
SCOUTING THE LOBOS
After grabbing back-to-back victories in their last two matches, New Mexico holds a 3-3 record overall going into the weekend's matches. The Utes and Lobos have a 21-match history dating back to 2001, where New Mexico holds a 13-8 edge over Utah. During their last contest in February of 2024, the Utes fell to the Lobos 4-0 on the road.
LAST TIME OUT
The Utes saw their four-match winning streak snapped in a 4-2 loss to LMU on Feb. 16, to move the Utes to 6-2 overall while remaining 1-0 in Big 12 play.
Utah dropped the doubles point despite a strong performance from Reid Jarvis and Dante Teramo, who earned a 6-3 win at the No. 1 spot. The doubles decision came down to No. 2, where Emmett Potter and Max Relic were tied 4-4 before LMU pulled ahead to secure the point.
In singles, Berk Bugarikj gave Utah an early boost with a dominant 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 1. After LMU reclaimed the lead with a win at No. 3, Jarvis evened the match at 2-2 with a straight-set victory at No. 5. The Lions responded with a win at No. 2 before clinching the match at No. 6 in a three-set battle against Nicolas Calixto. Teramo's match at No. 4 was left unfinished in the third set.
HEAD COACH ROELAND BRATEANU
Utah Head Coach Roeland Brateanu, the 2023 Pac-12 Coach of the Year and a five-time ITA Mountain Region Coach of the Year, leads the Utes for his eleventh season this spring. Under Brateanu's leadership, the Utah men captured the 2023 Pac-12 Regular Season title and secured their second straight NCAA Tournament appearance, advancing to its second consecutive second round appearance with a win over Old Dominion. The Utes finished with a 24-6 overall record and a No. 1 ranking in the ITA Mountain Region. Brateanu currently holds a 183-106 overall record at Utah.
