MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -  The University of Utah men's tennis team fell to South Alabama 4-2 on Saturday morning at the Battle in Boro in Murfreesboro, Tenn. Utah now holds a 6-4 overall record and remains 1-0 in Big 12 play.
DOUBLES
The Utes started strong by securing the doubles point. Berk Bugarikj and Max Relic clinched a 6-4 victory at the No. 2 spot over South Alabama's Braden Hannig and Javier Montoya. Nicolas Calixto and Emmett Potter added a 7-6(0) win at No. 3 against Victor Frumholz and Harold van Raemdonck. South Alabama managed to take the No. 1 doubles match, but Utah's two wins clinched the doubles point advantage in their favor.
SINGLES
Despite taking the doubles point, Utah was unable to hold off South Alabama's efforts. The Jaguars claimed victories on courts No. 2, No. 4, and No. 6, while the match was ultimately clinched on the No. 3Â court.
At the No. 5 position, Dante Teramo picked up Utah's only singles win with a straight-set victory over Victor Frumholz with scores of 6-1, 7-5. Bugarikj was tied 2-2 in the third set on the No.1 court, before the match was left unfinished.Â
UP NEXT
The Utes will continue action in Murfreesboro, Tenn., to take on New Mexico on Feb. 23. They will then return home to face Denver on Sunday, March 2, at noon.
