Elliott, who amassed an all-time record of 582-234 as head coach of the Utes from 1983-2010, will be immortalized with a banner displaying "582" for her number of wins. The announcement of the honor for Elliott was made today during a ceremony celebrating the Utes' 50th Anniversary, at halftime of Utah's game against Central Florida. The Utes welcomed alumni back to celebrate the rich history of the program. Elliott is not only the winningest coach in program history, but also the winningest head coach in Mountain West Conference women's basketball history.
She spent 27 seasons at the helm of the Utes from 1983-2010, and was named the John Wooden National Coach of the Year in 2001, as well as the WBCA District Coach of the Year five times (2009, 2008, 2001, 2000, 1998).
Elliott started her journey as an assistant coach at Utah under former head coach Fern Gardner. She spent four years under Gardner before taking over at the helm of the Utes in 1983. Elliott went on to post 20 or more wins in 20 different seasons.
Under Elliott's guidance, the Utes claimed 15 conference championship titles and made 14 NCAA appearances, including Utah's only appearance in the Elite Eight in 2006. She also made it to the Sweet 16 in 2001 and 2006.
Elliott coached 16 players to All-America honors and had four players drafted into the WNBA. She was inducted to the Utah Athletics Hall of Fame in 2014 and coached seven players who are also in the Utah Athletics Hall of Fame. In addition, her 2006 team was inducted into the Hall in 2023.
She also is a member of the Utah Sports Hall of Fame, inducted in 2016, and the Boise State Athletics Hall of Fame, as part of the Class of 1983.
