SALT LAKE CITY — The winningest head coach in Utah women's basketball history, Elaine Elliott, will be permanently recognized with a banner in the Jon M. Huntsman Center on Feb. 14. The unveiling will come at halftime of Utah's matchup against Cincinnati with more celebrations taking place over the duration of that weekend with a reception Friday, Feb. 13.
Elliot led the Utah women's basketball program from 1982-2010, compiling a 582-234 career record. Under her leadership, the Utes won 15 conference championships, made 15 NCAA Tournament appearances and reached the program's only Elite Eight in 2006.
Elliot was named John Wooden National Coach of the Year in 2001, coached 16 All-Americans, had four players drafted into the WNBA, was inducted into the Utah Athletics Hall of Fame in 2014 and the Utah Sports Hall of Fame in 2016.
Fans, alumni, and supporters can participate in the EmpowHER celebration weekend through a $150 registration package, which includes a reception honoring Elliot on Friday, Feb. 13, from 5-7 p.m. in the Legacy Hall at the Jon M. and Karen Huntsman Basketball Practice Facility (21+), followed by a continental breakfast and shoot-around on Saturday, Feb. 14, from 8-10 a.m. in the practice gym.
Registration also includes two general admission tickets to the Utah-Cincinnati game, two admissions to a pregame social in the Lexus Lounge with doors opening at 4 p.m., along with a commemorative credential and commemorative sweatshirt.
