SCOUTING THE KNIGHTS
UCF is coming off a 23-9 overall record in the 2025 season. UCF went 5-3 in conference matches last season. The Knights see a returner in senior Mehdi Benchakroun, who had an overall singles record of 23-8. Benchakroun was 22-10 in doubles play last season. UCF is currently 15-2 in its official 2026 season.
THE UTES
The Utah men's tennis program returns seniors Max Relic and Dante Teramo. The Utes also welcome back junior Emmett Potter. Utah has one sophomore returning to the squad in Charles Frey. The Utes welcome five newcomers with two transfers in Lorenzo Esquici and Simeon Terziev and three new true freshmen in AJ Deem, Oliver Mesicek, and Balthazar Huss.
NEWCOMER MAKING WAVES
The new sophomore transfer Simeon Terziev is making waves in his first season as a Ute. Terziev has a 7-2 overall singles record. Simeon is undefeated when playing in the No. 5 spot. Terzive holds a 4-1 record when at the No. 3 spot and a 2-1 record when at the No. 4 spot.
LAST TIME OUT
The Utah men's tennis team fell 4-0 against the Arizona Wildcats. The Wildcats clinched doubles points. Arizona clinched the remainder of the singles matchups to secure the win for the Wildcats.
HEAD COACH ROELAND BRATEANU
The Utah men's tennis team welcomed back Roeland Brateanu for his twelfth season as head coach. Brateanu coached the team to a historic 2022-2023 season, earning their first Pac-12 Regular Season Title. Prior to that season, Brateanu led the team to an 18-0 record in the 2021 season and finished ranked in No. 50 in the Oracle/ITA finale ranking. Brateanu currently holds an overall record of 187-117 at Utah.
NEXT UP
The Utes will travel to Tempe, where they will face Arizona State on March 26. Utah will then return for a home matchup against Texas Tech (March 29).
