PRIOR TO UTAH: Lettered three seasons for Alabama after redshirting in 2013 … primary holder for field goals and extra point attempts in all 44 games from 2014-16 ... Alabama won the SEC title all three seasons and was the 2015 national champion … in 13 career appearances at quarterback (1 start), he was 49-of-66 passing for 410 yards and two touchdowns (2 interceptions) … best games in 2016 came against Kentucky (53 yards on 5-of-5 passing) and Mississippi State (50 yards and a touchdown) … played in six games at quarterback as a junior, passing for 119 yards (12-of-14) with one touchdown and no interceptions … career-high 98 yards and a touchdown on 11-of-17 passing against Middle Tennessee as a junior … started against Ole Miss in 2015 and was 11-of-14 for 87 yards … appeared in seven games at quarterback as a sophomore in 2014, throwing for 291 yards and a touchdown (2 interceptions) while completing 71.2% of his passes (37-of-52) … three-time Utah all-state selection earned first-team honors from the Salt Lake Tribune as a high school senior … first-team all-region in 2011-12 and Region 2 Offensive MVP as a sophomore … competed in the 2013 Under Armour All-America Game … Elite 11 finalist in 2012 … consensus four-star recruit coming out of Cottonwood HS was ranked as the No. 3 pocket passer by ESPN, the No. 4 pro-style quarterback by 247Sports and the No. 5 quarterback prospect by Scout … 44th in the ESPN 150 … threw for 2,384 yards (180-of-342) and 15 touchdowns as a senior … also had 82 rushes for 277 yards and 12 touchdowns his senior year … as a junior, threw for 2,484 yards (168-of-308) and 26 touchdowns, while rushing for 183 yards and one touchdown on 93 carries … 1,822 yards passing as a sophomore (117-of-202) for 23 touchdowns … 30 rushing yards with two touchdowns as a sophomore … team captain … also played baseball.
