Kim Gaucher is in her second as Utah's Director of Community Relations.
Formerly Kim Smith, Gaucher played for the University of Utah from 2002-06 and was recognized as an Honorable Mention WBCA All-American each of her four seasons and was the first female student-athlete to have her jersey retired in the Jon M. Huntsman Center. Gaucher was also a CoSIDA Academic All-American and one of only two Utes to be named conference player of the year four times.
Gaucher was a first-round selection in the 2006 WNBA Draft, going to the Sacramento Monarchs with the 13th pick overall. She was acquired by the Phoenix Mercury in 2009.
As a captain of the Canadian National Team since May of 2000, Gaucher was the team's leading scorer and helped the squad to the quarterfinals of the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, the team's best finish since 1980. She also played for Team Canada in the 2014 FIBA World Championships in the fall of 2014.
With Team Canada, Gaucher also participated in the 2007 FIBA Americas Tournament, averaging 9.8 points, 6.4 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.0 steals, 2.0 blocks in 27.4 minutes per game. She also averaged 9.8 points and 5.8 rebounds in eight games at the FIBA Americas Tournament. In 2005, she averaged 13.6 points and 4.4 rebounds in five games. She also helped Team Canada to a third-place finish in the FIBA Americas Tournament, which gave them a spot in the 2006 FIBA Women's World Championships. She earned a bronze medal with Canada at the 2003 FIBA Americas Olympic Qualifying Tournament and helped Canada to fourth place at the Pan American Games in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. She was named a Tournament All-Star at the COPABA Young Women's World Qualification Tournament in Brazil in July 2002.
Gaucher also serves as the director of the Future Stars Camp, where she creates a training format to counsel young athletes on basketball, education, health and fitness.
Gaucher graduated from the University of Utah in May of 2006 with a Bachelor of Science in Communications.
