COLUMBUS - Utah Men's Tennis dropped a 4-0 result at No. 3 Ohio State this morning. The Utes held their own but could not maintain their winning start to the spring season.
I never like to lose but I am very proud of my team's efforts today," head coach
Roeland Brateanu said. "Ohio State has a very good team but we gave ourselves a chance in doubles and split sets in three of the six singles matches. We still have a lot of room for improvement but I am very content with the effort and the outlook for the remainder of the season."
After the Buckeyes claimed the doubles point, Kyle Seelig topped
Joe Woolley at the No. 5 singles posiiton to put the home side ahead 2-0. No. 5-ranked Hugo Di Feo defeated
Santiago Sierra at the third singles spot and Ohio State closed things out when No. 2-ranked Mikael Torpegaard defeated Dan Micevski, 6-4, 6-2. In the unfinished matches,
Dan Little and JJ Wolf were tied at one set apiece while the same could be said for
Parker McGuiness and OSU's No. 34- ranked Herkko Pollanen and Slava Shaniyan in his match with No. 53-ranked Martin Joyce
With the loss, the Utes will now play either Denver or Old Dominion on Sunday at 9 a.m ET in the consolation match
