The Basics: The University of Utah women's basketball team continues its home stand against the Saint Mary's Gaels on Saturday, Dec. 2. The game is set for a 2:30 p.m. tip on the Pac-12 Networks with Mary Murphy and Krista Blunk calling the action.

About the Gaels: Saint Mary's is on a trip to the Rockies this week and will take on Boise State on Thursday night before taking on the Utes on Saturday. The Gaels are 4-1 entering the game against Boise State. It's only loss of the season comes at the hands of Pac-12 foe California (L, 87-80). Among its four wins are two power five opponents in Washington State (W, 81-75) and Indiana (W, 88-82). SMC currently has three players averaging double digits, led by Stella Beck (17.8 ppg). The Gaels are averaging 84.0 points per game as a team, ranking them 21st in the NCAA in scoring offense.

Utes vs. The West Coast Conference: The Utes are about to start a three-game stretch against teams from the West Coast Conference (Saint Mary's, Pepperdine and BYU). Utah is 97-50 all-time against the current members of the West Coast Conference. The last time Utah beat a team from the WCC was in 2016 when they defeated Saint Mary's 63-62 on the road.
Last time Out: Despite struggling from the three-point line (2-for-18) against UT Arlington, stingy defense led the Utes to a 71-41 win. Emily Potter secured her second double-double of the season with 16 points and 11 rebounds while Tilar Clark contributed 11 points, her best output as a Ute. Megan Jacobs added a season-best 10 points (4-for-6). Utah forced the Mavericks to shoot just 11-percent from the three and 32-percent from the field, handing them their first loss of the season.
Off the block: Senior Emily Potter entered the season with two records under her belt and is in search of a third. She broke the single-season blocks record two seasons in a row (89 in 2016-17, 83 in 2015-16) and has tied Lauren Beckman for the career blocks record (225). She is just one away from setting the new record.
