The Basics: The University of Utah women's basketball team is set to open Pac-12 play at home, hosting Arizona and Arizona State. The Utes face off against Arizona on Friday, Dec. 29 (6 p.m.) followed by a Sunday matinee vs. Arizona State at noon.
Home Sweet Home: The Utes are 497-102 all-time in the Jon M. Huntsman Center, holding a winning home record for three straight seasons and in five of the last six seasons. The Utes are 7-0 in Salt Lake City this season.
About the Wildcats: The Arizona Wildcats come to Salt Lake City after finishing the non-conference season 4-7 overall. Arizona was on a six-game losing streak before winning two of its last three non-conference games, including a double-overtime win over Southern Utah on Dec. 20 (76-74). They are led by JaLea Bennett, who is averaging 16.5 points and 5.5 rebounds, ranking fifth in the league in scoring.
About the Sun Devils: The Arizona State Sun Devils finished non-conference play 9-3 overall and will take on Colorado on Dec. 29 before heading to SLC. ASU started the season on a four-game winning streak before losing two straight, but picked up two wins to end the non-conference portion of the season, including a victory over SEC foe Arkansas (89-43). They have three players averaging double-digits, including Kianna Ibis who is scoring 12.1 points per game. Arizona State in only averaging 73.7 points per game, but ranks 12th in the country in scoring defense, holding opponents to 52.9 points per game.
Game Promotions: Utah's game against Arizona on Dec. 29 is Community Night where the Utes will recognize local organizations and companies for all they to to make Salt Lake City a great place to be. Against Arizona State on Dec. 31, fans can start New Year's Eve right by enjoying video board features and in-game promotions circles around the NYE holiday. The Kids Zone located in section Q will open one hour before both games.

Utes vs. The Pac-12: The Utes are 97-137 against the current members of the Pac-12. Since joining the Pac-12 in 2011-12, Utah is 36-72 in conference play. Utah has a winning record against two of the 11 other teams in the Pac-12, including a 17-6 all-time series record against Arizona.
Last time Out: Utah played its final non-conference game of the season on Thursday, Dec. 21, defeating Oral Roberts University at home, 71-50. It was another balanced attack for the Utes with nine players scoring against the Golden Eagles, led by senior Emily Potter with 13 points. She added nine rebounds and a season-high four blocks. Daneesha Provo reached double figures for the seventh time this season, scoring 10. Tanaeya BoClair added nine points off the bench with Tilar Clark tossing in eight points and a season-high seven rebounds.
Home Non-Con: Since Lynne Roberts took over in 2015-16, Utah has remained undefeated in home non-conference games. The Utes are 21-0 in non-conference games taking place in the Jon M. Huntsman Center in the past three seasons, including going 7-0 this season.
Defensive Difference: Under the direction of head coach Lynne Roberts and the current staff, the Utes are 22-1 when holding an opponent to 60 points or less. Utah has held five opponents to less than 60 points this season, including in the last two games. Utah is third in the Pac-12 in scoring defense this season (56.6).
In and Out: Utah has scored 436 (50.9%) points in the paint and 419 (49%) out of it, giving Utah one of the more balanced offenses in the Pac-12.
Triple Threat: Most centers aren't considered deep shooters, but Emily Potter can now add that to her threats with her paint presence and rebounding. Potter drained her first career three against ORU (12/21), making her 1-for-3 this season and 1-for-6 in her career.
Line Game: Utah has shot 80-percent or higher from the free throw line in six games this season, including its 81-percent against ORU (12/21). They are shooting 75-percent this season, ranking third in the Pac-12 and 32nd in the NCAA. Megan Huff is shooting 79-percent from the free throw line, ranking sixth in the Pac-12.
