SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The University of Utah men's tennis team will be making a road trip to Stockton, California this week, as the Utes are set to match up against the University of the Pacific (8-11) on Wednesday.
The matchup against the Tigers is set to take place at the Eve Zimmerman Tennis Center with play on Wednesday set to begin at 2 p.m. MST.
Utah Notes
The Utes have had a week of rest after going 2-0 on their last road trip they made to Los Angeles, California, defeating Lamar University with a final score of 4-2 and Loyola Marymount University with a final score of 5-2. Against Loyola Marymount University, the doubles team of
Joe Woolley and
Santiago Sierra cruised by Cartier Juan and Max Kaiser at the No. 2 position, with a final score of 6-1. Then to finish off doubles play and secure the point,
Slava Shainyan and
Azat Hankuliyev defeated Ryan Brown and Luke Bohuslav at the No. 3 spot, with a final score of 6-4. In singles action, Shainyan was dominant at the No. 5 position, defeating Alex Bourgeois 6-2, 6-1. Then at the No. 6 spot,
Egbert Weverink edged out Ryan Brown with a final score of 6-3, 6-2, with
Parker McGuiness also carding a win at the No. 3 position, defeating Max Kaiser with a final score of 6-2, 6-7.
David Micevski then finished things off for the Utes, defeating Nick Borchenko with a final score of 6-2, 4-6, 6-2. With this win, the Utes have now moved to 13-4 overall.

The Pacific men's tennis team fell to Loyola Marymount 4-1 Sunday afternoon in a road West Coast Conference matchup in Los Angeles, California. Pacific falls to 8-11 overall and 1-2 in the West Coast Conference. Pacific quickly earned the doubles point as Lance Ngo and Bryan Husin finished off Cartier Juan and Alex Bourgeois, 6-1 at third doubles. At second position, Alex Giannini and Ross Watson clinched the point with a 6-4 win over Ryan Brown and Luke Bohuslav. The Tigers struggled in singles as LMU took four points to claim the match. Gabriel Diaz Freire topped Alex Giannini 6-3, 7-5 at second, while Bourgeois downed Akram El Sallaly 7-5, 6-3 at fourth singles. Brown also defeated Husin 6-4, 6-4, while Luke Bohuslav topped Watson 7-6, 7-5. Tadiwa Chinamo won his first set against Nick Borchenko 6-2, but went unfinished 7-5, 2-4. Lance Ngo knotted his match 7-5 after losing the first set 6-3 before his match also went unfinished.
