SALT LAKE CITY – Utah volleyball completed the sweep over Arizona State (25-21, 25-22, 25-6) in dominating fashion in the Huntsman Center on Sunday, November 11.
The Utes swept the Sun Devils in both meetings this season.
Megan Yett led the way for Utah with 15 kills and
Dani Drews was right behind her with 13 kills hitting .393. She also completed the double-double with 12 digs.
The first set was tight until the Utes went on an 8-1 run to get some distance on the Sun Devils. Arizona State had a five-point run of their own, but the Utes closed the opening frame out 25-21.
Brianna Doehrmann had a huge first set coming up with nine digs.
The second set was tight throughout and Utah finally got some separation winning two points in a row to go up 22-20 and forcing Arizona State to use a timeout. The Sun Devils got back within one, but Utah secured the second set after a block by
Phoebe Grace and
Kenzie Koerber.
Utah did not mess around in the third set racing out to an 18-3 lead and cruised to the sweep closing out the match 25-6. That's the lowest point output that Utah has held a team in a single set and only the sixth time the Utes have held a team to single-digit points in a set since joining the Pac-12.
