CORVALLIS, Ore. – The University of Utah women's basketball team struggled to contain the No. 3 Oregon State Beavers tonight on the road, falling 77-48. The Utes are 7-6 overall this season and 0-2 in Pac-12 play.
After the Utes made it a three-point game with 6:04 on the clock in the first quarter, Utah was unable to close the gap any further after that point in the game. The Utes shot 33-percent from the floor tonight, but once again struggled to shoot for percentage from the three, going 7-of-24 (29%).
The Utes were led in scoring by
Andrea Torres who put up a season-high 13 points and team-high eight rebounds. She shot 5-of-8 from the floor (62%), also knocking down a team-high three from the arc (3-of-5).
Dru Gylten and
Julie Brosseau each contributed seven points. Gylten also chipped in four rebounds, three assists and a steal.
The Utes were outscored 24-10 in the first quarter, but got some offensive momentum in the second when they outscored the Beavers 14-13. Torres and
Ola Makurat combined for 10 of Utah's 14 second quarter points with Torres also grabbing five of her eight rebounds in the quarter.
Unfortunately for the Utes, Oregon State would go on to shoot 52-percent through the second half with Utah only able to shoot 28-percent from the floor and just 14-percent from the three.
STAT OF THE GAME
Andrea Torres led the Utes in scoring for the first time this season and the third time in her career with her season-high 14 points. She knocked down a season-high three-pointers, the fourth time this season she has hit two-or-more from beyond the arc.
Torres has now hit two-or-more threes in 12 career games and is shooting 33-percent from the arc in 43 career games with the Utes.

- Senior Kiana Moore played in her 100th career game as a Ute tonight. She has earned the starting nod 24 times, playing 1,627 minutes and has 501 career points.
- Andrea Torres is the fifth different player to lead the Utes in scoring after her 14 points against Oregon State tonight.
- Andrea Torres finished with a team-high eight rebounds tonight against the Beavers, tying the career-high of eight that she set against Providence in non-conference play.
- Utah held Oregon State to just 26.7-percent shooting in the second quarter, holding them to their second-lowest shooting percentage in a quarter this season (OSU shot 8.3% in the first quarter vs. BYU).
- Utah held Oregon State to just 25-percent shooting from the three after the Beavers entered the game ranked No. 1 in the Pac-12 in percentage beyond the arc (.375).
