The University of Utah men's tennis team returns to Salt Lake City this week to host the Denver Pioneers at the Eccles Tennis Center. The match is set for Sunday, March 2, at noon. The Utes enter the matchup ranked No. 56 in the latest ITA poll.

SCOUTING THE PIONEERS
Currently ranked No. 70, Denver holds an 8-5 overall record and enters the match on a two-match win streak, including a victory over No. 65 Utah State. The Utes and Pioneers have faced off 22 times, with Utah leading the series 13-9. However, Denver won the most recent meeting, sweeping Utah 4-0 in February 2024.
LAST TIME OUT
The Utes are coming off a 4-2 victory over New Mexico in their final match at the Battle in Boro. The win improved Utah's record to 7-4 overall, with the team remaining 1-0 in Big 12 play.
Utah set the tone early by securing the doubles point, thanks to wins from
Reid Jarvis and
Dante Teramo at No. 1, as well as
Nicolas Calixto and
Emmett Potter at No. 3. In singles play, Potter continued his strong performance with a dominant 6-0, 6-4 win on court No. 3, while Teramo added another straight-set victory at No. 4. After New Mexico cut the lead to 3-2, Jarvis delivered the clinching point for the Utes, closing out a 6-3, 7-5 win at No. 2.
HEAD COACH ROELAND BRATEANU
Utah Head Coach
Roeland Brateanu, the 2023 Pac-12 Coach of the Year and a five-time ITA Mountain Region Coach of the Year, leads the Utes for his eleventh season this spring. Under Brateanu's leadership, the Utah men captured the 2023 Pac-12 Regular Season title and secured their second straight NCAA Tournament appearance, advancing to its second consecutive second round appearance with a win over Old Dominion. The Utes finished with a 24-6 overall record and a No. 1 ranking in the ITA Mountain Region. Brateanu currently holds a 183-106 overall record at Utah.
