SALT LAKE CITY— The University of Utah men's tennis team fell to the San Diego State Aztecs 4-3.
To start things off the Aztecs picked up wins at the No. 2 and No. 1 spots to claim the doubles point advantage. In the No. 3 spot, Lorenzo Esquici and AJ Deem were locked in a 6-6 tiebreak before the doubles point was clinched leaving the Ute duo unfinished.
In singles play, San Diego State started off by picking up a win in the No. 2 spot. The Utes answered at the No. 3 spot where Emmett Potter picked up a 6-3, 6-2 win over Finn Willman. SDSU then picked up a win at the No. 4 spot to take a 3-1 advantage in the overall match.
In the No. 5 spot, Simeon Terziev won 6-3, 7-5, over the Aztecs Brock Anderson to keep some momentum swinging for Utah. The Aztecs clinched the match at the No. 1 spot. The remainder of the match played out where Charles Frey defeated Denis Maijorov 7-5, 4-6, 10-8 at the No. 6 spot.
The Utes are now 3-4 on the season.

The Utes will travel to Tennessee for the Battle In Boro for the weekend of Feb. 20 - Feb 22. Utah will play Middle Tennessee (Feb. 20), Rice (Feb. 21) and Old Dominion (Feb. 22).
